There is a secret place in Menomonee Falls; a wild area hidden from view right in the heart of downtown.

The secret is out. The wildlife sanctuary is called Lime Kiln Natural Area.  It is a habitat for birds, flora, fauna, and a place to contemplate near the waterfall.

It is an outdoor classroom for meaningful environmental education.

Lime Kiln Natural Area is located along the Menomonee River adjacenent to the downtown Village Centre, and is approximately 16.5 acres in size.

The park derives its name from two historic lime kilns located within the park, which along with the quarry, date from the 1840's and are in the National Register of Historic Places.
