A Police Officer is your friend. He or she can help you in many ways.  If you are lost, a police officer  can help you find your parents or guardian.  If you are afraid, he can protect you.  They  make sure that the roads, parks and other public places are a safe and friendly place for you to be.

Police Officers take time from their busy schedule to visit the classrooms at your school.  They educate kids about many things, from advice about talking to strangers to
what to do if you find a gun, to how to resist temptation when other kids want you to try things that would be harmful to you.  Never be afraid to approach a police office if you need help.  They like kids and are always ready to make sure that you are safe and sound.

Would you like to be a police officer when you grow up?
You would  wear a police uniform and be able to help and protect others.  Some police officers are assigned to the bicycle patrol.  You may have seen them around Menomonee Falls.  Above you can see the Summer uniform.  Officers can stay cool in hot weather.
Most of the police men and women ride in cars like the one on the left.
They are called "squad cars."  Squad cars have blinking lights and loud sirens.

When someone telephones the Police Department for help, the call is received
in this room.  See all the computers and equipment necessary to make sure that
things are done quickly and accurately!  From here, the dispatchers on duty can call
officers who are in their squad cars and give them the address of someone who
needs help.
